One thing that never stops surprising me is how interconnected books are. I’m reading The Courage to Be Disliked by Ichiro Kishimi and Fumitake Koga and it’s written in the style of a Socratic dialogue (intentionally) and it makes me think of the Socratic Dialogues and the history of literature. Even more so it emphasizes the idea that Truth is always found in fiction but fiction is not true. Universal ideas across cultures will show up again and again across the centuries. This is perhaps why I enjoy reading such a broad spectrum of literature. It’s hard to deny the truth of the human condition when answers seem to keep popping up again and again. It might make an interesting experiment to choose your next read based on what your current one brings up or even potentially mentions. Create a 7 Degrees of Separation chart and see what your literary North Star is so to speak. On that note I think that’s it for this week. Universal Truth as a concept and as a deliberate search when reading. That changes the perspective. Happy Reading!
