Book influencers are much more common on social media platforms and I think it’s important to have one or two that are inspiring but not so many that you’re spending more time listening about books rather than reading about books. The fun part of the book community is how diverse it is. There are lots of different hobbies surrounding books. Buying books is one hobby, finding independent bookstores to visit is another, reading books is yet another, and the list can go on. Having routines for reading (there are numerous lists about how to read more out there) will help increase the volume that you read but knowing why you’re reading helps you pick the right book for you. I’ve done the read this book until you finish the exercise and got to say I like it much more when I read based on what I’m in the mood for, or that I rotate different books in and out. Books are chock full of information and sometimes you just need to process what you’re reading. With fiction usually not getting into the book within the first 50 pages indicates it’s either not the right time or just not your book. This is where libraries are super helpful. It keeps you from spending money on books that don’t really speak to you. For this week an interesting challenge would be to keep a reading log and update impressions and overall feelings. Happy Reading!
